INSPIRATION

before the first brush stroke

There are no rules to being an authentic artist, other than finding inspiration and communicating it with a visual “voice.” Inspiration can be found anywhere. Any location, any sound, any dream or mental image can inspire an artist to create. We are all about looking into the unique, interesting, and rare, then interpreting what we found by creating new artwork.

color

the conversation

Colors “talk” to each other within every art work. Sometimes the story is brash or exciting, but also thoughtful or calming.

What does that mean?

Let’s say you are invited to a party but the guest of honor hasn’t arrived.  The anticipation gives way to small conversations between guests. Creating an abstract painting is much like this. You prepare a surface, determine base color, then “guests” start arriving.

If it is a theme party, they may all arrive in coordinating attire. A blue paint palette might have shades of blue with other colors also having a touch of blue in them to coordinate.

When the guest of honor arrives, there is far more excitement in the room! In terms of paint, this could be a metallic or a bolder shade. The focal point could even be a black outlined form or other element that pulls your attention.

Every artist has a color & composition theory whether it is formally directed or casual chaos. We create the “party.” Your job when looking at art is solely to determine if that is a party you want to attend!

technique

at work- at play?

Trying new techniques and perfecting them is all in a days work (or play) for us. As you look at all our artwork, look for the notes on technique. When available, we try to include videos to see how the piece came to life. Seeing the birth of an art work can help you decide if you connect. Let’s dive in together.
